Crown Maple Syrup Joins Hudson Valley Food & Beverage Alliance - Robb Turner Joins HVEDC Board

The founder of both a new company that makes organic maple syrup and a leading energy investment firm is the newest board member of the Hudson Valley Economic Development Corp.

Robb E. Turner is the co-founder of Crown Maple Syrup, located in Dover Plains, Dutchess County. He is also a co-founder and senior partner of energy investment firm ArcLight Capital Partners. Crown Maple, an organic, sustainable farm and high-tech production facility, has been producing Crown Maple Syrup on an 800-acre farm for nearly a year. ArcLight has over $10 billion under management in five private equity energy investment partnerships. Prior to forming ArcLight in 2000, Turner founded and built Berenson Minella & Company’s energy advisory practice.

Crown Maple Syrup has also joined the newly formed Hudson Valley Food & Beverage Alliance as a founding member. The Alliance is a new initiative by HVEDC that focuses on marketing the abundance of food and beverage companies located in the Hudson Valley to the rest of the country.

“Robb has been very successful in his business ventures and having him as an HVEDC board member will bring another new and interesting perspective to this dynamic group of business leaders throughout the Hudson Valley,” said Mike Oates, CEO and President of HVEDC. “Having Crown Maple as a founding member of the Food & Beverage Alliance is a natural fit too. In Crown Maple’s first year of operations, the company installed 18,000 taps on trees and produced 7,000 gallons of Grade-A syrup. Next year, they are projecting to install 40,000 taps and produce about 20,000 gallons. The company is an amazing success story and is just one of many successful stories in the food and beverage industry in the Hudson Valley.” Also, the company has secured retail distribution in more than 80 local retail locations in the Northeast as well locations in Texas, Seattle, Atlanta, Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia.

Turner is looking forward to his involvement with the HVEDC board. “I’m thrilled to join the HVEDC board and help continue the great work the organization has done in the Hudson Valley.
