Maple Poached Pears

Maple Poached Pears

Pair them with walnuts and blue cheese for a delicious salad or warm them and use as an ice cream topping. These pears are super versatile and make a delightful addition to many dishes!

3 Pears


3 Bosc Pears
2 cups Water
1 cup White Wine
1 cup Very Dark with Strong Taste Syrup
1 Vanilla Bean, split
1 Cinnamon Stick


Step One

In a pot over medium heat, combine the water, wine, maple syrup, vanilla bean and cinnamon stick and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low to keep the poaching liquid hot

Step Two

Peel the pears and but in half length-wise. Remove the stem and core with a spoon.

Step Three

Gently place the pear halves into the poaching liquid and poach until they are just tender when pierced with a pairing knife

Step Four

When the pears are tender, remove them from the liquid. Liquid may be reserved and reused to make more pears. Store any unused pers in the poaching liquid, tightly covered in the refrigerator
